(Zurich).- The FIFA Women’s World Cup Integrity Task Force established by FIFA to monitor the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ held its preliminary meeting in preparation for the tournament in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Integrity Task Force kicks off in preparation for the tournament

The task force has been set up by FIFA specifically as an operational initiative and aims to protect the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 from the manipulation of matches and any integrity-related matters. The task force is a collaborative effort between FIFA and the most relevant international stakeholders in the integrity field, whose expertise will contribute towards safeguarding, promoting and maintaining the integrity of the competition. This is the second time a FIFA Women’s World Cup is being monitored by a task force, the first one having been established for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019™.

To ensure the experienced, coordinated and timely handling of integrity matters during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, FIFA has once more joined forces with key organisations. The task force is composed of members from FIFA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (also in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2026™), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), INTERPOL, the Council of Europe and its Group of Copenhagen, United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports, the International Betting Integrity Association, Sportradar, Sport Integrity Australia and the New Zealand Police.

The task force monitors the betting markets and in‑game action in real time at every FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 match. If suspicious betting or in-game behaviour is identified or an alert is received from any source, it will assess and investigate the matter.

In line with its statutory objectives, FIFA is committed to promoting and safeguarding the integrity of football. This includes working to prevent and sanction all forms of match manipulation, corruption and other unethical or illegal activities that could undermine the integrity of the game.
